About the Role
Petrofac seeks a Superintendent - Construction (Lifting) to lead lifting and hauling operations at an oil & gas EPC site in Abu Dhabi. The role requires 12+ years of rigging & lifting experience, including 8 years as a rigging supervisor and 2 years as a Lifting Superintendent, with a college degree preferred.

Responsibilities
- Prepare lifting plans, manpower, and equipment forecasts
- Execute and manage all lifting and hauling operations
- Provide leadership and guidance to site team and subcontractors for safe lifting operations
- Conduct daily site audits to ensure HSE and lifting/hauling inspections and procedure compliance
- Monitor project lifting & rigging operations to ensure compliance with approved plans
- Ensure all lifting/hauling equipment are well maintained, inspected, and certified
- Ensure all personnel involved are trained, competent, and certified
- Conduct training of rigging personnel and VOC assessments
- Review and approve lift plans, rigging & lifting procedures, and lift studies
- Confirm effective procedure for reporting defects and incidents and take corrective action
Requirements
- 12+ years rigging & lifting site experience in direct hire construction with an international oil & gas EPC company
- Minimum 8 years experience as a rigging supervisor
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Lifting Superintendent
- College graduate, preferably an engineer
- Extensive knowledge of lifting and rigging international standards (ASME, OHSA, LOLER)
- Formal training by an approved third party institute accredited by OPITO (e.g., NPORS BV)
- Ability to produce working reports and coordinate SIMOPS
- Working knowledge of lifting drawings and calculations
- General knowledge in inspection of lifting gears and equipment

- Capable to develop lift and haul schedules at site and assist optimization of lifting resources.
- Capable to provide planning, selection of crane, lifting gear & equipment, instruction, and safety precaution.
- Ensure lifting activities are planned, scheduled, executed with highest regard for personal safety and environment.
- Support in developing method statement and JSA’s.
- Conduct daily site audits to ensure HSE and Lifting/Hauling inspections and procedure compliance.
- Monitor project lifting & rigging operations to ensure all lifts are performed in accordance with approved plans.
- Responsible for day to day cranes and lifting activities at site.
- Qualified person for all Load out, Load in, Hauling and Erection activities using lifting equipment.
- Ensure all lifting/hauling equipment are well maintained, inspected and certified by approved 3rd party.
- Ensure all personnel involved are trained, competent and 3rd party certified.
- Conduct training of rigging personnel, VOC assessments and maintain records.
- Review and approve lift plan, rigging & lifting procedure and lift studies including subcontractor’s lift plan.
Knowledge & Qualifications
- 12+ rigging & lifting site experience in direct hire construction with an international oil & gas EPC company.
- Minimum 8 years experience as a rigging supervisor.
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Lifting Superintendent.
- Must be college graduate preferably an engineer in profession.
- Preference: Experience in CIS/FSU, Middle East, and/or North Africa.
- Preference: Prior experience working with a diverse international workforce.
Skills & Competencies
- Good communications skills.
- Extensive lifting and Rigging International Standards knowledge (ASME, OHSA, LOLER).
- Trained and competent in accordance with local legal requirements (e.g., Abu Dhabi EHSMS Code of Practice 34.0).
- Formal training by approved third party institute accredited by OPITO (e.g., NPORS BV).
- Able to produce working reports.
- Able to coordinate possible SIMOPS.
- Able to train and qualify riggers, rigging supervisors and crane operators.
- Working knowledge and interpretation skills of lifting drawing and calculations.
- General knowledge in inspection of lifting gears and equipment.
