About the Role

Responsibilities
- Support TELUS business units (including Connected Home, Smart Cities, Building Solutions, 5G innovations) in executing strategic initiatives to deploy or use data and technology ethically and responsibly
- Inform and advise teams on new or existing data uses and implementation of ethical technologies
- Develop innovative strategies and creative solutions to reduce business risks and address privacy, compliance, AI, and data governance issues, including conducting privacy and AI impact assessments and recommending risk mitigation
- Actively collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to develop and implement technology solutions and ensure compliance with TELUS's trust model
- Lead the development, design, and implementation of processes, frameworks, technology requirements, and testing protocols to standardize data governance and risk management best practices and support agile development methodology
- Identify, quantify, and promptly escalate data risk cases to senior management and recommend effective mitigation measures to protect customer and team member data
- Demonstrate adaptability to changing organizational needs and a dynamic, ambitious team where priorities vary but the mission remains the same
Requirements
- At least five years of experience in data ethics, artificial intelligence, operational data governance, privacy, or data protection
- Demonstrated ability to implement emerging technologies by creating and implementing programs related to privacy and AI laws, data ethics, artificial intelligence, data governance, and data protection
- Recognized knowledge and expertise in applying privacy laws, guidelines, and best practices, or other regulations, as well as understanding of data ethics, operational data governance, and data protection
- Willingness to collaborate, act with integrity, and think critically
- Demonstrated ability to define desired outcomes, produce measurable results, and mitigate risks for clients and the organization
- Ability to influence, negotiate, and persuade, combined with strong conflict resolution skills
- Ability to manage ambiguity and make decisions in a dynamic environment
- Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively and respectfully to non experts
- IAPP certification, or willingness to obtain within six months
- Proficiency in French and English, both oral and written
- Experience in the legal field is an asset
- Experience working in a large matrix organization is an asset

Qualifications

- Recognized knowledge and expertise in applying privacy laws, guidelines, and best practices, or other regulations, as well as understanding of data ethics, operational data governance, and data protection.
- Willingness to collaborate, act with integrity, and think critically so that TELUS meets its commitments to customers and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to define desired outcomes, produce measurable results, and mitigate risks for clients and the organization in an environment with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to influence, negotiate, and persuade, combined with strong conflict resolution skills aimed at achieving win win solutions to develop communities of practice.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and make decisions in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively and respectfully to non experts.

- IAPP certification, or willingness to obtain within six months.
