Job Overview

The Site Engineer - Structural Steel plans, coordinates, supervises, and executes structural steel fabrication, erection, and installation activities.

The role covers steel frameworks, columns, beams, bracings, trusses, platforms, staircases, grating, equipment supports, pipe racks, and miscellaneous steel components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review shop drawings, fabrication drawings, connection details, erection methodologies, lifting plans, and material specifications.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, fabricators, survey teams, cranes, and erection crews.
  • Monitor fabrication quality, material traceability, bolt tightening, welding, dimensional control, alignment, verticality, and connections.
  • Conduct site inspections, coordinate NDT and quality audits, resolve technical issues, and manage inspection requests.
  • Manage manpower and equipment resources and track project progress against approved schedules.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and maintain erection records.
  • Support testing, punch-list clearance, project handover documentation, and compliance with HSE and quality procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant experience are required.
  • Experience in data centre, industrial, power, infrastructure, oil and gas, or commercial construction projects is preferred.
  • Strong technical, planning, coordination, and communication skills are required.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of structural steel erection methodologies, welding practices, bolted connections, fabrication processes, lifting operations, and NDT requirements.
  • Knowledge of AISC, BS, ASTM, IS, and project-specific standards is required.
  • Experience with material traceability, dimensional control, alignment, verticality, and connection installation.

Safety and Quality

  • The role requires adherence to HSE regulations, lifting safety requirements, approved method statements, quality standards, and construction schedules.
