Role Overview
Senior Storekeeper role in the construction industry managing warehouse operations, heavy building materials, and site inventory.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Issue materials to site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors based on approved requisitions.
- Maintain accurate digital and physical inventory records using ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
- Coordinate with procurement and project managers to report shortages and plan material replenishment.
- Organize storage yards and warehouses in compliance with local health and safety standards.
- Oversee receipt, storage, and issuance of goods while maintaining inventory control.
- Inspect incoming goods for damage or defects and accept only high-quality items.
- Enforce safety and security protocols, including hazardous-material handling and fire-safety requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors on deliveries, returns, and discrepancies.
- Maintain storekeeping equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize workflow and productivity.
Requirements and Qualifications
- 7 to 10 years of warehouse or storekeeping experience in construction, contracting, or civil engineering environments.
- Deep familiarity with civil, electrical, and MEP construction materials.
- Experience with computerized inventory systems.
