Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (Manual and Automation)

About the Role

Technical Requirements

• Understand web fundamentals including HTTP, headers, cookies, tokens, caching, and frontend, backend, and data defects.
• Investigate defects using browser developer tools, device logs, and API responses.
• Design tests for edge cases, permissions, invalid input, interrupted flows, and weak or offline networks.
• Produce precise defect reports with reproduction steps, environment, build, behavior, severity, priority, evidence, and logs.
• Evaluate design quality, including layout, hierarchy, states, contrast, tap targets, and breakpoint behavior.
• Assess release readiness using evidence.

Testing and Coverage

• Perform manual and automated testing across web, Android, iOS, admin, vendor, and API surfaces.
• Write and maintain test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and regression suites.
• Execute functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, system, and UAT testing.
• Run full regression testing before production releases and issue release readiness reports.

Technical Validation

• Perform API testing with Postman, Swagger, or equivalent, including authentication, authorization, errors, pagination, and payload validation.
• Test authentication, OTP, 2FA, sessions, token expiry, and role-based access control.
• Use SQL to validate database data and verify analytics and tracking events.
• Test payment and messaging integrations, identify basic security issues, and conduct basic performance and load testing.

Automation

• Develop and maintain automated scripts for regression and critical user journeys.
• Maintain automation suite stability, resolve flaky tests, and support execution in CI/CD pipelines.

Platform and Localization

• Test macOS and Windows with Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge, including responsive behavior.
• Test physical iOS and Android devices across screen sizes and operating system versions.
• Validate builds through TestFlight, Firebase App Distribution, and store release channels.
• Validate Arabic and English localization, including right-to-left layout, truncation, formatting, and mixed-direction content.

Process and Collaboration

• Manage defects through their full lifecycle in Jira, from reporting through retest and closure.
• Record the environment where each defect was found and work directly with Product, Development, DevOps, and Design.

Required Skills

• Manual testing, test design, automation, web and mobile application testing, API testing, regression testing, SQL database testing, and integration testing.
• Basic performance and security testing, cross-browser and cross-platform testing, and responsive testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Three to five or more years of software quality assurance experience covering manual and automation testing.
• Production experience testing mobile and web applications, with knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, SQL, SDLC, and STLC.
• Professional working proficiency in English is required; Arabic is preferred.

Preferred Tools and Experience

• Experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, Postman, Swagger, JMeter, k6, Firebase, Crashlytics, GA4, MySQL, Git, Jira, CI/CD tools, or Charles Proxy is useful.
• Experience with marketplaces, classifieds, e-commerce, fintech, insurtech, payment systems, or high-traffic consumer applications is preferred.
• Experience with every listed tool is not required; depth in several tools and ability to learn others is sufficient.
