About the Role
North Oil Company Qatar is hiring a Senior Pump Maintenance Engineer for the Al Shaheen Oil & Gas Field. You will define and optimize fieldwide pump maintenance strategy, manage overhauls for production-critical pumps, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Define and optimize fieldwide pump maintenance strategy, spare parts philosophy, and stock policy for over 200 pumps
- Scope, plan, and execute overhauls for production and safety critical pumps, managing an OPEX budget of USD 7–10 million annually
- Act as technical authority in pump and system performance analysis, identifying issues affecting reliability, availability, and efficiency
- Lead and coordinate preparation, execution, repair, and troubleshooting activities with diverse stakeholders
- Develop operational and capital budget inputs for annual and long term company planning
- Lead and supervise specialist contractor activities, including onshore repairs and offshore interventions
- Oversee safe development and execution of Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) programs for pumps across all assets
- Provide specialist technical advice on pump and rotating equipment maintenance, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Manage repair processes for critical rotating equipment and pumps, including site visits to vendor workshops
- Monitor effectiveness of maintenance strategies and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry with significant exposure to rotating equipment and pump systems
- Thorough understanding of process safety principles, industry standards, and HSE procedures
- Extensive knowledge of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, including maintenance practices, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management
- Solid experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and maintenance planning/execution processes
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Job Dimensions

- Accountable for contractor management, performance monitoring, and quality assurance.
Accountabilities & Activities
- Oversee safe development, implementation, and execution of Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) programs for pumps.
- Accountable for planning, preparation, and execution of Corrective Maintenance (CM) activities for pumps fieldwide.
- Drive an Incident Free (IF) environment by promoting a strong safety culture.
- Ensure positive HSE performance of personnel and contractors.
- Provide specialist technical advice on pump and rotating equipment maintenance.
- Establish and maintain effective maintenance strategies for pumps.
- Prepare work packs and Work Orders for Campaign and Shutdown teams.
- Manage repair processes for critical rotating equipment and pumps.
- Monitor effectiveness of maintenance strategies and identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead management of repairs, overhauls, and maintenance of all pumps.
- Issue and update permutation/test schedules to stagger failure risks.
- Support development of Qatari personnel through coaching.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrated strong technical expertise in a multi cultural environment.
- Thorough understanding of process safety principles and HSE procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
- Solid experience with CMMS and maintenance planning/execution.
- Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
Context and Environment
- Position is in a Joint Venture Operating Company on the Al Shaheen Oil & Gas Field.
- Role is onshore based in Doha, Qatar on a permanent staff residential basis (5 day working week).
