Senior Matcha Barista

We are looking for an experienced Senior Barista to join our team, with a strong focus on matcha and Japanese tea-based beverages.

This is not a standard coffee barista position.

The candidate will be trained in our matcha preparation methods and will be expected to become an expert in matcha quality, preparation, service, and customer education.

• Prepare matcha drinks consistently according to recipes and quality standards.
• Master traditional and modern matcha preparation techniques.
• Understand different matcha grades, cultivars, origins, flavor profiles, and applications.
• Properly whisk and prepare matcha while controlling temperature, dosage, texture, and dilution.
• Prepare hot and iced matcha lattes, signature drinks, seasonal beverages, and other Japanese tea drinks.
• Understand how different types of milk interact with matcha and maintain the correct balance of flavor.
• Maintain excellent drink presentation and consistency during both normal and high-volume service.
• Follow recipes precisely, including matcha dosage, milk quantity, sweeteners, toppings, creams, and other ingredients.
• Maintain proper storage and handling of matcha to protect freshness, color, aroma, and flavor.
• Monitor product quality and immediately report any inconsistencies.
• Support testing and development of new matcha beverages.
• Welcome every guest warmly, with a genuine smile and positive energy.
• Create a friendly and comfortable atmosphere where customers feel recognized, appreciated, and happy to return.
• Be approachable, attentive, and naturally hospitable throughout the customer experience.
• Explain matcha to customers in a simple and engaging way, including its origin, preparation, taste, and differences between varieties.
• Recommend drinks based on customer preferences.
• Train and support junior baristas.
• Help ensure the entire bar team follows the same preparation, presentation, and hospitality standards.
• Participate in matcha workshops, tastings, ceremonies, corporate events, and off-site activations when required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, professional bar and follow food safety and hygiene standards.
• Monitor stock levels and minimize product waste, particularly for premium matcha and specialty ingredients.

• Minimum 2–3 years of professional barista experience, preferably in a specialty café or premium hospitality environment.
• Strong understanding of beverage preparation and customer service.
• Previous experience with matcha is highly preferred, but advanced matcha training will be provided.
• Ability to understand recipes, measurements, temperatures, and beverage ratios precisely.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Confident speaking with customers and explaining products.
• Ability to train and supervise other baristas.
• Naturally welcoming, friendly, positive, and comfortable smiling and engaging with guests.
• Professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong work discipline.
• Genuine interest in matcha, Japanese tea culture, and specialty beverages.

The amount of matcha, water temperature, whisking technique, milk selection, texture, sweetness, and presentation all affect the final experience.
