About the Role
Petrofac is hiring a Senior Engineer - Commissioning (Mechanical) to lead pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for oil and gas projects. The role requires hands-on leadership of a team, expertise in rotating and static equipment, and a strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities
- Lead a team of commissioning discipline engineers and operators in carrying out Pre Commissioning/Commissioning & Start up activities
- Identify requirements and scope of work, review specifications, drawings and other documents
- Carry out detailed assessment of commissioning work and assess available resources and constraints
- Be continually present on the field to guarantee quality and progress of work
- Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and toolbox talks
- Provide necessary inputs to commissioning proposals at bidding stage
- Inspect and ensure all construction activities are completed prior to taking up system for commissioning
- Ensure all safety and precautionary requirements and procedures are followed during commissioning
- Lead subcontractor for safe execution of Pre Commissioning / Commissioning activities
- Be aware of cost monitoring, control expenses, and report overruns to management
- Hold regular review of risk assessment/meeting with client on HSE issues
- Attend daily meetings with Commissioning coordinator and team leaders to update progress
Requirements
- Hands on leadership of a team of commissioning discipline engineers and operators
- Ability to produce project specific procedures, preservation & maintenance check sheets, matrix and schedules
- Ability to find out technical problems associated with rotating/static equipment and mechanical packages/valves
- Ability to preserve and maintain rotating equipment after equipment commissioning and start up
- Preparation of RFQ’s and evaluation of vendor technical bids
- Assessing requirements of special tools/temporary facilities/equipment for pre commissioning and commissioning
- Ability to participate in model reviews of the plant with respect to Accessibility & Maintainability requirements
- Ability to perform & guide activities related to rotating equipment like lube oil flushing, alignment, lubrication, vibration checks, start up
- Ability to perform & guide activities related to static equipment like proper installation of internals inside vessels
- Ability to perform & guide in air blowing, flushing, leak testing, drying & inerting of various piping
- Ability to perform & guide in mechanical interlock, pipeline pigging activities, spring support, hot & cold setting

Scope Of Responsibilities
- Hands on leadership of a team of commissioning discipline engineers and operators in carrying out Pre Commissioning/Commissioning & Start up activities.
- Provide necessary technical information for the other disciplines during the project.
- Coordinate the work within the budgeted man hour and project schedule.
Primary Duties
- Identify requirements and scope of work, review specifications, drawings and other documents of the project and establish applicability to the scope of work.
- Carry out a detailed assessment of the commissioning work involved and assess the available resources and possible constraints in its execution.
- Ability to review contractual documents and identify project requirements and constraints / risks.
- Be continually present on the field to guarantee the quality and progress of the work.
- Ability to perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and toll box talk to executing the activities.
- Provide necessary inputs to commissioning proposals at the bidding stage.
- Inspect and ensure all construction activities are completed prior to taking up the system for commissioning and ensure the setting up of safety procedures for the same.
- Ensure that all safety and precautionary requirements and procedures are followed during the commissioning.
- Ability to lead subcontractor for the safe execution of Pre Commissioning / Commissioning activities in line with the schedule.

- Ability to preserve and maintain rotating equipment after equipment commissioning and start up.
- Preparation of RFQ’s and evaluation of vendor technical bids and preparation of technical bid analysis for all specialist services activities.
- Assessing the requirements of special tools/temporary facilities/equipment required for pre commissioning and commissioning.
- Ability to participate in model reviews of the plant with respect to Accessibility & Maintainability requirements.
- Ability to perform & guide various activities related to rotating equipment likes lube oil flushing, alignment, lubrication, vibration checks, start up etc.
- Ability to perform & guide various activities related to static equipment likes proper installation of internal inside the vessels as per drawing & specifications.
- Ability to perform & guide in air blowing, flushing, leak testing, drying & inerting of various piping.
- Ability to perform & guide in various activities such as mechanical interlock, pipeline pigging activities, spring support, hot & cold setting.
