About the Role
Petrofac is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer (Instrumentation) to lead pre-commissioning and start-up activities for energy projects in Abu Dhabi. The role requires hands-on leadership of a commissioning team, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence.

Responsibilities
- Lead a team of commissioning discipline engineers and operators in pre commissioning/commissioning and start up activities
- Carry out detailed assessment of commissioning work and assess resources and constraints
- Be continually present on the field to guarantee quality and progress
- Ensure all safety and precautionary requirements are followed during commissioning
- Provide technical support and problem resolution on control and safety systems
- Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure compliance with company quality procedures
Requirements
- Hands on leadership of a team of commissioning discipline engineers and operators
- Strong engineering background in instrument field device and control system
- Ability to perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and tool box talks
- Experience with DCS, ESD, HIPPS, AMS, OPC communication
- Ability to review contractual documents and identify project requirements and constraints/risks

Job Overview

Primary Duties
- Identify requirements and scope of work, review specifications, drawings and other documents.
- Carry out detailed assessment of commissioning work and assess resources and constraints.
- Be continually present on the field to guarantee quality and progress.
- Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and tool box talks.
- Provide necessary inputs to commissioning proposals at bidding stage.
- Inspect and ensure all construction activities are completed prior to commissioning.
- Ensure all safety and precautionary requirements are followed.
- Lead subcontractor for safe execution of pre commissioning/commissioning activities.
- Monitor costs and report overruns to management.
- Hold regular risk assessment meetings with client on HSE issues.
- Attend daily meetings with commissioning coordinator and team leaders.
- Liaise and coordinate with commissioning engineers and supervisors.
Instruments
- As leader of instrument commissioning team, understand all instrument commissioning phases.
- Have strong engineering background in instrument field device and control system.
- Able to guide technical issues to several engineers.
- Direct daily activities related to instrument SAT/Loop testing and functional testing.
- Provide technical support on DCS/ESD, HIPPS, AMS, OPC communication.
- Interact with QA/QC to ensure compliance with quality procedures.
- Identify design failures or discrepancies for lessons learned.
