Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, review, and supervision of LV, MV, and power distribution systems for large scale building, airport, shopping mall, and commercial development projects, including substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power factor correction systems, and electrical rooms.
  • Perform and validate electrical power system studies, including load flow analysis, short circuit studies, protection coordination, arc flash assessments, voltage drop calculations, harmonic analysis, and cable sizing.
  • Design and oversee lighting, small power, emergency power, earthing, lightning protection, and ELV systems (CCTV, Fire Alarm, Public Address, Access Control, BMS, Structured Cabling, etc.).
  • Coordinate electrical power requirements with utility authorities and stakeholders to secure approvals for substations, load schedules, metering schemes, energization plans, and permanent power connections.
  • Lead multidisciplinary coordination with architectural, structural, MEP, and tenant fit out teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards and local authority requirements, including IEC, NEC, IEEE, DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, Civil Defense, and other applicable regulations.
  • Review and approve design calculations, single line diagrams, electrical layouts, equipment schedules, shop drawings, material submittals, and commissioning procedures.
  • Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, energization, and handover of electrical systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical challenges related to electrical infrastructure, power distribution networks, substations, cable routing, electrical protection systems, and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Monitor project progress, resource utilization, and technical deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers, inspectors, contractors, and site teams.
  • Support sustainability initiatives through energy efficient electrical designs and compliance with LEED, Estidama, and other green building requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's Degree is an advantage.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in electrical engineering, including significant experience on large scale building, airport, mixed use, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong expertise in electrical power systems, substations, MV/LV distribution networks, protection systems, and utility coordination.
  • Proficient in ETAP, SKM, Dialux, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other electrical design and analysis software.
  • Extensive knowledge of local authority requirements and approval procedures (DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, Civil Defense, etc.).
  • Hands on experience in electrical testing, commissioning, power system energization, and authority inspections.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, power quality, protection coordination, and reliability engineering.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem solving skills.
  • Membership in IEEE or an equivalent professional engineering body.
  • PMP, LEED AP, Estidama PQP, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
  • Licensed/Registered Electrical Engineer is preferred.
