The Senior Development Manager is responsible for profitable restaurant expansion, remodels, and relocations.
The role builds and monitors the franchisee pipeline for store openings and supports the company expansion program.
The position is the most senior manager in the department and reports to the Senior Director of Development.
Responsibilities
- Validate locations and asset types using competition, trade-zone, and customer-behavior analysis.
- Own the new-store pipeline and keep stakeholders informed of progress and blockers.
- Improve pipeline quantity and quality and challenge business models to lower hurdle sales.
- Ensure remodels and relocations are completed to keep the restaurant portfolio fresh.
- Provide franchisees with tools, training, and best practices.
- Ensure brand standards and global equipment standards are met.
- Develop suppliers, vendors, and consultants for timely profitable expansion.
- Coordinate functional approvals for remodel and new-store processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- 8+ years of retail business development experience with proven retail real estate expertise.
- Strong business and cultural understanding of the Middle East market.
- Strong commercial acumen, project management, and process-oriented working style.
Required Capabilities
- Influence stakeholders across functions and manage complex transactions with minimal supervision.
- Communicate complex business issues effectively to senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluate risks, opportunities, and business scenarios using critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Manage multiple priorities and maintain strong relationships with partners, suppliers, clients, and teams.
Work Context
- The role involves field-based assessment of locations, trade zones, competition, and customer behavior.
- The manager works with franchisees, operations, marketing, restaurant excellence, supply chain, quality, human resources, finance, vendors, and consultants.
