Job Description
The Credit function independently assesses, monitors, and controls credit risk across the bank's portfolio.
The role supports informed credit decisions, asset quality, risk governance, timely proposal processing, and sustainable business growth.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage the assigned credit portfolio and maintain asset quality within approved risk parameters.
- Review and approve credit proposals within delegated authority and escalate higher-value cases.
- Perform credit analysis, financial statement reviews, and risk assessments.
- Monitor portfolio performance, early warning signals, trends, and concentrations.
- Work with relationship managers and risk teams to support business objectives and prudent underwriting.
- Support audits, regulatory reviews, policy updates, and process improvements.
Credit Risk and Governance
- Evaluate complex credit applications against risk appetite and Shariah principles.
- Apply local and international regulatory requirements across credit processes.
- Embed Shariah governance standards in credit assessment and documentation workflows.
- Coordinate with Compliance and Shariah teams on audit findings and regulatory queries.
Policy and Analytics
- Lead improvements to credit approval and monitoring procedures and benchmark policies against industry standards.
- Facilitate training and communication to support policy adoption and procedural clarity.
- Develop dashboards for NPLs, sector exposures, risk migration, and other credit metrics.
- Collaborate with Data and IT teams to improve data quality and reporting automation.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, banking, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of banking experience focused on corporate credit.
- Strong knowledge of credit risk analysis, financial statement analysis, and lending frameworks.
- Familiarity with UAE Central Bank regulations and banking compliance standards.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A master's degree is preferred.
- CFA, CA, CPA, CIPA, CCRM, or an equivalent credit risk or Islamic finance certification is preferred.
- Ongoing professional development in regulatory and credit risk topics is expected.
