Role overview

Serve as the key day-to-day client interface for cost management services on complex life sciences construction projects.

Support laboratory, R&D, and office developments, including new builds, expansions, and renovations in biotech and pharmaceutical environments.

Work independently and collaboratively in a client-facing role with strong communication requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Prepare and present cost plans through design phases and at key project milestones.
  • Review design-team and general-contractor estimates for laboratory, R&D, and office fit-out projects.
  • Reconcile changes, validate cost data, and coordinate information from suppliers, subcontractors, and design teams.
  • Prepare cost reports, written comments, executive summaries, funding presentations, and benchmarking data.
  • Manage cost checks, valuations, cost validation, auditing, contingency tracking, commitment logs, and fee forecasts.
  • Support value engineering, design optioneering, cost-impact decisions, final-account negotiations, and change control.
  • Coach and mentor team members and maintain consistent internal processes and best practices.
  • Adhere to applicable SOX control responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5–7 years of relevant experience in construction cost management.
  • Experience leading cost management on medium- to large-scale complex construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting laboratory, pharmaceutical, or life sciences construction projects is preferred.
  • Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
  • RICS accreditation or progress toward accreditation is preferred.

  • On-site presence and requirements may change depending on client needs.

Compensation

  • Base salary range is $140K–$165K USD, with final compensation based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity.
  • Employees may also be eligible for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
