Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor - Data Center Construction

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop cost plans and estimates through design and delivery phases and present monthly reports, executive summaries, funding data, and estimate revisions.
• Coordinate cost information from designers, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors for validation, auditing, and benchmarking.
• Lead procurement strategy, pricing reviews, scope validation, commercial negotiations, final accounts, and contract pricing.
• Own change control, including change order review, estimation, negotiation, reconciliation, variance management, and commitment tracking.
• Support cost risk analysis, scenario planning, contingency management, project controls, and Earned Value Management where applicable.
• Integrate cost with schedule and scope, drive engineering priorities based on cost impact, and lead value engineering initiatives.
• Act as primary client interface, maintain internal delivery systems, mentor junior staff, and oversee financial performance and forecasting.

Requirements

• A relevant bachelor's degree is required.
• At least 5–7 years of cost management experience on mission-critical data center projects is required.
• The role requires periodic travel to Frederick, Maryland, including approximately 3–4 onsite days per month.
• Strong MEP, resilience, hyperscale infrastructure, budgeting, financial reporting, cost control, and EVM knowledge is required.
• Expertise in procurement strategy and contractor or vendor commercial management is required.
• Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
• RICS accreditation or progress toward certification is advantageous.
• Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
• Proficiency with industry-standard cost management tools and the ability to work effectively remotely are required.

Compensation

• The stated base salary range is $140K–$160K USD; final compensation depends on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity.
• Employees may also be eligible for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.

Travel and reimbursement

• Travel to Frederick, Maryland is required for major project activities and periodic onsite support.
• The approximate minimum onsite expectation is 3–4 days per month.
• Approved business travel expenses and mileage are reimbursed.

Workplace

• The role is primarily remote with periodic onsite engagement at the Frederick, Maryland project site.
• Onsite presence and requirements may change depending on client needs.
