Role overview

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial and contracts functions across high-rise projects.
• Oversee pre-contract and post-contract commercial activities.
• Manage reviews, negotiations, notices, variations, extensions of time, and payments.
• Lead claims, counterclaims, disputes, and arbitration proceedings.
• Support legal teams and provide input on UAE court-related matters.
• Oversee quantity surveying, cost control, valuations, forecasting, and reporting.
• Develop strategies protecting margins, cash flow, and contractual entitlement.
• Review subcontractor and supplier agreements.
• Lead tendering and estimation activities.
• Identify risks and coordinate mitigation with project stakeholders.
• Advise management throughout the project lifecycle and mentor commercial teams.

Candidate requirements

• 15–20 or more years of relevant construction commercial and contracts experience.
• Strong high-rise commercial building construction background is essential.
• UAE construction experience is highly preferred; GCC experience may be considered.
• Strong claims, dispute resolution, arbitration, contracts, and contract administration expertise.
• Strong quantity surveying and cost control background.
• Experience in tendering, estimation, and commercial management.
• Understanding of construction contracts and mechanisms, including FIDIC.
• Experience with major contractors, consultants, developers, and/or clients.
• Strong commercial negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Degree in quantity surveying, commercial management, engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.

Additional qualifications

• Court proceedings and/or arbitration experience is highly advantageous.
• The role requires commercial advice, risk analysis, cost control, stakeholder coordination, and team mentoring.
