Position Overview

  • The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CHBE) in the College of Engineering at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for Regular faculty position or visiting faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level commencing in Fall 2027.
  • The applicant is required to have a PhD in Chemical or Biological Engineering or a closely related field and show evidence of a significant teaching portfolio.
  • Applications with background in Biological Engineering/Biomedical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering/Biotechnology are preferred.
  • Excellence in teaching and research, in addition to experience in the American model of higher education, are highly desirable.

  • The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering has approximately 200 undergraduate students, 15 graduate students, 12 full time faculty and 3 lab instructors.
  • Students and faculty represent very diverse backgrounds and nationalities; approximately 90 nationalities are present on campus.
  • The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biological Engineering, and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering.
  • AUS is located in the Emirate of Sharjah (about 15 km from Dubai).
  • AUS is an independent, not for profit, coeducational university, serving more than 5,700 students.
  • AUS is licensed and its programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Affairs Division in the United Arab Emirates.
  • AUS has been accredited in the United States of America by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since June 2004.
  • The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering offered by the College of Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
