Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients on the 2C Cardiology unit, a 50 bed inpatient acute care unit supporting complex cardiac patients
- Work closely with Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Short Stay and Coronary Care Unit
- Focus on medical management and minimally invasive procedures for cardiac patients
- Support off service patients with telemetry needs
- Work 12 hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Requirements
- Diploma graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing or equivalent
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or meet eligibility criteria
- Current BCLS
- Successfully completed the Coronary Care 1 course or committed to completing within six months
- Minimum of 1 year acute care medicine/cardiac experience required
- A physical assessment course required
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to care for patients with IV therapy, medication administration, blood and blood product administration, blood glucose monitoring, nasogastric tubes, wound management, infection control, normal and abnormal lab values
- Demonstrates excellence in communication skills and interprofessional teamwork
- Demonstrates strong ability to facilitate patient and family centred care and establish therapeutic relationships
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- A positive work and attendance record is essential

- Trillium Health Partners (THP) is one of Canada’s largest community based teaching hospitals, serving Mississauga, West Toronto, and surrounding communities.
- THP includes Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital, Queensway Health Centre, Reactivation Care Centre (Church Site) and THP UHN Reactivation Care Centre.
Unit Summary
- THP is a Regional Cardiac Program providing services and care in collaboration with our Regional Partners.
- 2C Cardiology is a 50 bed inpatient, acute care unit supporting a wide variety of complex cardiac patients.
- We work closely with Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Short Stay and Coronary Care Unit.
- We primarily focus on medical management and minimally invasive procedures.
- We also support off service patients with telemetry needs.
Qualifications
- Candidate will be a diploma graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing or equivalent (i.e. certificate RPN with added course in medication administration, phlebotomy and health assessment).
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO.
- Current BCLS.
- Successfully completed the Coronary Care 1 course or committed to completing the course within the next six months.
- Minimum of 1 year acute care medicine/cardiac experience required.
- Telemetry experience preferred.
- A physical assessment course required.
- Recent experience with inpatient cardiology population preferred.
- Demonstrates knowledge, experience and the ability to care for patients with the following: initiation and maintenance of IV therapy, administration of medication above the drip chamber, blood and blood product administration, blood glucose monitoring, nasogastric tubes, wound management skills, rou
- Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) completion preferred.
- Previous experience in providing and delivering patients and families with educational teaching.
- Demonstrates excellence in communication skills and interprofessional teamwork.
