Responsibilities
- Provision of nursing care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education

- Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development (including annual training/education as indicated)
Requirements
- Graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO
- Able to function to the full scope of practice as per CNO
- Basic Life Support certification
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to care for patients with: initiation and maintenance of IV therapy, administration of medication above and below the drip chamber, blood and blood product administration, patient controlled analgesia, Enteral feeds, TPN, transfusion of blood products, central venous access devices (PICCs), blood glucose monitoring, naso gastric tubes, wound management skills, routine infection control practices, normal and abnormal blood values, oxygen therapy, tracheostomies,
- Computer skills including typing, sending and receiving email and working with Microsoft applications such as Word
- Satisfactory attendance and performance record required
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred
- Minimum of two years acute care medical/surgical experience preferred
- Completion of a physical assessment course preferred

Job Description
- The In Patient Medicine Program at THP consists of more than 350 beds across CVH & MH, staffed by large interprofessional teams supporting complex medicine patients.
- Reporting to a Clinical Manager, the ideal candidate will provide excellent patient centered care in a dynamic environment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing.
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or eligible.
- Able to function to the full scope of practice as per CNO.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to care for patients with: IV therapy, medication administration, blood products, PCA, Enteral feeds, TPN, CVADs, blood glucose monitoring, NG tubes, wound management, infection control, oxygen therapy, tracheostomies, chest tubes.
- Computer skills including typing, email, Microsoft Word.
- Satisfactory attendance and performance record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of two years acute care medical/surgical experience.
- Completion of a physical assessment course.
- Experience with acute care medicine patient populations (respirology, nephrology, cardiology, geriatric).
- Experience in patient and family education.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem solving skills.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Experience with Meditech, Sunrise Clinical Manager, or EPIC.
