Responsibilities
- Provide acute care to complex cardiology patients and post surgical vascular patients on a 50 bed inpatient unit
- Initiate and maintain IV therapy, administer medications, blood products, and monitor blood glucose
- Perform wound management and apply infection control precautions
- Educate patients and families on care plans
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure patient centered care
Requirements
- Graduate of a recognized College or School of Nursing; Baccalaureate degree preferred
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or eligible
- Current BCLS certification
- Successfully completed Coronary Care 1 course or commitment to complete within six months
- Minimum 1 year acute care medicine/cardiac/surgical experience
- Physical assessment course
- Telemetry experience preferred
- Recent experience with inpatient cardiology or cardiac surgery population preferred
- Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) completion preferred
- Positive work and attendance record

Position Overview
- Registered Nurse position in the 2C Cardiology department at Mississauga Hospital
- Full time role with 12 hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Part of Trillium Health Partners' Regional Cardiac Program
Unit Summary
- Provide care for a wide variety of complex cardiology patients
- Work closely with Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Short Stay, and Coronary Care Unit
- Focus on medical management and minimally invasive procedures
- Provide post surgical care for THP's Vascular Surgery population
Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized College or School of Nursing; Baccalaureate degree preferred
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or eligible
- Current BCLS certification
- Successfully completed Coronary Care 1 course or commitment to complete within six months
- Minimum 1 year acute care medicine/cardiac/surgical experience required
- Telemetry experience preferred
- Physical assessment course required
- Recent experience with inpatient cardiology or cardiac surgery population preferred
- Demonstrates knowledge of IV therapy, medication administration, blood product administration, blood glucose monitoring, nasogastric tubes, wound management, infection control, and lab values
- Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) completion preferred
- Previous experience in patient and family education
- Excellence in communication and interprofessional teamwork
Compensation
- Hourly wage range: CAD 41.15 – CAD 58.98 per hour
