Responsibilities
- Provide safe and compassionate care during antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn periods
- Monitor labour progress, perform CTG monitoring, and interpret foetal heart rates
- Perform spontaneous vaginal deliveries and assist with instrumental and caesarean deliveries
- Perform immediate post delivery care for mother and newborn
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects
- Provide education and support for breastfeeding and skin to skin bonding
- Create and evaluate patient care plans with the interprofessional team
- Provide bereavement support during end of life care
Requirements
- Valid license to work as a registered midwife in the relevant regulatory health authority
- Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)
- Willingness to work across departments when necessary
- Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter professional team
- Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation
- Ability to communicate effectively in Arabic

Role Overview
- Practice in accordance with the regulator Scope of Practice, ensuring completion of all competencies and required clinical privileging prior to providing direct patient care.
- Registered Midwives can provide care to the woman and newborn in different practice settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe and compassionate care during the antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn periods.
- Provide safe and EBP care in relation to spontaneous vaginal deliveries (SVD), assist with instrumental vaginal deliveries, and caesarean deliveries (both emergent and elective) for the mother and newborn.
- Assist the obstetrician with required procedures or perform as per scope of practice, such as artificial rupture of membranes (AROM), sterile vaginal examinations.
- Monitor the progress of labouring mothers, performs CTG monitoring and interprets findings of foetal heart rates.
- Support women during childbirth, reflective of the woman’s birthing plan.
- Perform immediate post delivery care of the mother and newborn.
- Support, promote, and protect the ten steps within the WHO Mother Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
- Provide education and support strategies to the mother and newborn that encourage early breastfeeding and skin to skin bonding.
- Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions.
- Perform systematic patient assessment, re assessment and collect pertinent data.
- Determine actual and potential midwifery diagnoses, problems, and issues.
- Create and evaluate patient care plans with the interprofessional team.
Essential Requirements
- Have an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority.
- Manage their own professional re licensure.
- Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
- Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
