Responsibilities
- Provide safe and compassionate care during antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn periods
- Monitor progress of labouring mothers, perform CTG monitoring, and interpret foetal heart rates
- Perform immediate post delivery care of mother and newborn
- Support and promote WHO Mother Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative
- Provide education and support for breastfeeding and skin to skin bonding
- Assess patient needs, implement and monitor medical plans
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects
- Perform episiotomy and repair perineal lacerations as per scope of practice
- Provide wound care management and education
- Facilitate safe patient admission, transfer, and discharge
Requirements
- Valid nursing license to practice in the relevant regulatory health authority
- Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)
- Willingness to work across departments when necessary
- Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter professional team
- Organizational and administrative skills to use electronic medical record platform
- Ability to communicate effectively in Arabic

Role Overview
- Practice in accordance with regulator Scope of Practice, ensuring completion of competencies and clinical privileging.
- Registered Midwives provide care to women and newborns in different practice settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe and compassionate care during antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn periods.
- Provide safe and EBP care for spontaneous vaginal deliveries, assist with instrumental and caesarean deliveries.
- Assist obstetrician with procedures such as AROM and sterile vaginal examinations.
- Monitor labour progress, perform CTG monitoring, interpret foetal heart rates, escalate to obstetrician as needed.
- Support women during childbirth according to birthing plan, knowledgeable about stem cell collection.
- Perform immediate post delivery care of mother: fundal massage, placental examination, blood loss assessment.
- Perform immediate post delivery care of newborn: cord blood gases, initial steps, identification, physical assessment.
- Support, promote, and protect WHO Mother Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
- Provide education and support for early breastfeeding and skin to skin bonding.
- Assess and identify patient needs, implement and monitor medical plan and treatment.
- Perform systematic patient assessment, re assessment, and collect pertinent data.
- Determine actual and potential midwifery diagnoses, problems, and issues.
Essential Requirements
- Appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority.
- Manage own professional re licensure.
- Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
- Willing to work across departments when necessary.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
Desirable Qualifications
- Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter professional team.
- Organizational and administrative skills to use electronic medical record platform.
