Role overview

Manage the cost, contractual, and commercial aspects of construction projects.

Support delivery within budget, on time, and in compliance with quality, contractual, regulatory, and company requirements.

The role includes responsibilities normally performed by a Junior Quantity Surveyor when required.

Pre-contract responsibilities

  • Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications using POMI, NRM, or equivalent methods.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities, cost breakdowns, cost plans, feasibility studies, and design-stage estimates.
  • Support tendering by preparing documents, handling queries, issuing addenda, and evaluating submissions.

Post-contract responsibilities

  • Review contractor payment applications and recommend interim valuations.
  • Evaluate variations and their cost and time impacts.
  • Monitor project costs against approved budgets and prepare monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
  • Support contract administration under FIDIC or equivalent forms and assist with claims and extensions of time.

Closeout and coordination

  • Prepare and agree final accounts and support the financial closeout of projects.
  • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, contractors, and clients on cost-related matters.
  • Attend project meetings and communicate cost implications and recommendations.

Risk and reporting

  • Identify financial and contractual risks and participate in value engineering workshops.
  • Maintain cost records, quantity take-offs, project files, correspondence, and cost documentation.
  • Prepare cost summaries, management presentations, client deliverables, and audit-ready records.
  • Keep current with market rates, construction methods, and materials while supporting continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil/MEP Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Proven experience in tendering and Design & Build environments.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC contracts.
  • Extensive understanding of building pathology, construction technology, and regulatory requirements.
  • Valid driving license.
