The Managing Quantity Surveyor is responsible for end-to-end delivery of cost consultancy services across projects.

The Managing QS leads the team and must be capable of performing senior and quantity surveyor duties.
Leadership and project management
- Lead, supervise, and mentor senior, intermediate, and junior quantity surveyors.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor deliverables against agreed timelines.
- Coordinate with project managers, design teams, and other disciplines.
- Review cost plans, estimates, budgets, and benchmarking exercises.
- Monitor project cost performance and advise on corrective actions.
- Prepare and review cash flow forecasts and cost reports.
- Manage cost control and value engineering exercises.
Procurement and contracts
- Manage and review BOQ preparation, tender documentation, and pricing schedules.
- Lead tender clarifications, tender analysis, and comparison reports.
- Provide technical cost recommendations to clients.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts and contract sums.
- Administer FIDIC or equivalent contracts and identify contractual risks.
- Manage variations, claims, extensions of time, interim payments, and final accounts.
Clients and reporting
- Serve as the main QS point of contact for clients and consultants.
- Attend meetings to present cost and contractual matters.
- Provide commercial advice to clients, project managers, and senior management.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and project financial summaries.
- Maintain project cost databases, documentation, and comprehensive project cost files.
- Present project financial status and commercial risks to senior management.
Compliance and departmental support
- Maintain organized project files, including drawings, correspondence, and cost data.
- Ensure compliance with contract conditions, company procedures, and professional standards.
- Keep updated on market rates, construction methods, and materials.
- Support departmental planning, resource allocation, proposals, and fee bid submissions.
- Ensure drawings, specifications, and BOQs are coordinated without omissions or discrepancies.
- Take responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and completeness of project deliverables.
Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil/MEP Engineering.
- MRICS, MAIQS (CQS), or equivalent certification is preferred and must be achieved within two years if not already held.
- Minimum of 10–15 years of experience in the related field.
- Proven experience in tendering and Design & Build environments.
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and Methods of Measurement.
- Extensive understanding of building pathology, construction technology, and regulatory requirements.
