Role Overview

The Quantity Surveyor manages project costs and contractual matters from the awarded stage through project completion.

The role covers estimating, procurement support, contract administration, payments, variations, cost reporting, risk management, and project closeout.

Cost and Budget Management

  • Prepare detailed costs, bills of quantities, and budgets from project drawings and specifications.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project scope to identify materials, labor, and potential changes.
  • Track project costs throughout the lifecycle, identify overruns or risks early, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare cost reports, project financial summaries, progress updates, and records for management, audits, and final accounts.

Procurement and Contracting

  • Maintain variation, procurement, and NOC logs and issue requests for quotation to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Evaluate quotations through technical and commercial comparison sheets and secure approvals under company policy.
  • Support procurement negotiations and vendor finalization.
  • Draft, review, administer, and monitor supplier and subcontractor contracts to ensure alignment with project scope and terms.

Payments and Variations

  • Prepare interim payment applications, final accounts, variation claims, and contractual payment documentation.
  • Certify and process payments to subcontractors and suppliers and follow up required approvals.
  • Evaluate price variations, change orders, client instructions, notices, and other contract administration matters.
  • Assist with contractual letters and coordinate with project engineers, project managers, and procurement teams.

Site and Compliance Activities

  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and verify completed work for payment claims.
  • Identify contractual and financial risks and provide recommendations.
  • Ensure work complies with local laws, contractual obligations, and company policies.
  • Support project closeout and complete other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

  • Ability to prepare detailed costs, bills of quantities, and budgets from project drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to analyze drawings, specifications, and project scope to identify materials, labor, and potential changes.
  • Experience preparing RFQs, evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations, and producing technical and commercial comparison sheets.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, administering, and aligning supplier and subcontractor contracts with project scope and terms.
  • Experience tracking project costs, identifying overruns and financial risks, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Experience preparing interim payment applications, final accounts, variation claims, and payment certifications.
  • Ability to conduct site visits to verify completed work for payment claims.
  • Ability to maintain project documentation and records for audits, final accounts, and closeout.
  • Knowledge of local laws, contractual obligations, and company policies applicable to project work.
