Responsibilities
- Own the design for data center projects and design solutions which add infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and/or increase sustainability
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for Data Centers in your region
- Interface with internal and external teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability
- Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
- Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover
- Manage design consultancy firms to generate, review and release data center designs
- Draft and approve project scopes, RFPs and RFIs
- Travel for site review and conduct engineering evaluations, audits, and site launches
Requirements
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems design

Description
- AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
- The Fleet Remediation Engineering (FRE) team delivers designs that support our operational data centers to meet ever evolving customer needs.
- As Project Design Electrical Engineer you will lead design projects in operational Data Centers that remediate emergent issues, upgrade existing infrastructure and add new services.
Key job responsibilities
- Work with internal teams to understand user requirements.
- Carry out designs & calculations to meet project requirements.
- Manage design consultancy firms to generate, review and release data center designs.
- Manage change, versioning and configuration control.
- Draft and approval of project scopes, request for proposals (RFP) and request for information (RFI).
- Work with commissioning teams to validate installation, operation, and performance of systems.
- Travel for site review and conduct engineering evaluations, audits, and site launches.
- Review and approve equipment submittals.
- Work with internal teams to trouble shoot problems and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) for design related problems.
- Work with regional vendors and manufactures to specify the appropriate mechanical equipment.
- Provide technical support for information requests during construction phases.
- Offer creative, out of the box solutions.
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
