Role overview

Procurement Quality Engineer (Mechanical) responsible for supplier quality surveillance, inspection, and expediting on Oil & Gas EPC projects.

The role covers procured mechanical equipment and materials including storage tanks, piping systems, static equipment, skids, and packaged equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve supplier quality documents, ITPs, Quality Plans, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Coordinate procurement quality activities for mechanical equipment and bulk materials.
  • Perform supplier assessments, audits, and qualification evaluations.
  • Monitor manufacturing progress and conduct vendor-facility surveillance.
  • Coordinate third-party inspections and witness critical testing.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, standards, client requirements, and codes.
  • Manage NCRs, corrective actions, and supplier quality improvement initiatives.
  • Review manufacturing data books and quality dossiers before shipment.
  • Interface with Procurement, Engineering, Construction, and Project Management teams.
  • Support material receiving inspections and quality matters during project execution.

Experience and credentials

  • At least 10 years of Procurement Quality, QA/QC, or Supplier Quality experience in Oil & Gas EPC projects.
  • Experience managing inspections at supplier workshops and fabrication facilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Lead Auditor ISO 9001 certification.

Technical requirements

  • Experience with atmospheric and API 650 storage tanks, tank internals, and accessories.
  • Experience with carbon steel and stainless steel piping, fittings, flanges, valves, specialty items, and pipe supports.
  • Experience with pressure vessels, heat exchangers, separators, filters, columns, drums, skids, and packaged mechanical equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of API 650, API 620, ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, ASTM Standards, and ISO 9001.
  • Familiarity with welding, NDT, coating, heat treatment, and mechanical testing requirements.
  • Strong understanding of EPC procurement processes and vendor manufacturing activities.
  • Ability to work with international suppliers, third-party inspectors, and project stakeholders.
