Lead Instrumentation and Control Engineer

Role Overview

Engineering Management

• Lead the design, review, and approval of instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control system drawings.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and ISA, IEC, and API standards.
• Evaluate and approve instrumentation equipment, control panels, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, and process control logic.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
• Review and approve engineering modifications and change requests.

Installation and Commissioning

• Supervise installation, cabling, integration, and commissioning of instruments, transmitters, sensors, control panels, and PLC/DCS/SCADA systems.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Process teams to support project execution.
• Lead loop checking, calibration, FAT/SAT, functional testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot complex instrumentation and control system issues.

Quality, HSE, and Materials

• Implement QA/QC procedures, review ITPs and inspection reports, and close NCRs and punch-list items.
• Maintain traceability of instruments, calibration certificates, test reports, and commissioning dossiers.
• Ensure adherence to HSE requirements, PTW systems, LOTO procedures, risk assessments, and electrical safety standards.
• Monitor material and testing equipment availability, storage, preservation, and calibration compliance.

Documentation and Team Leadership

• Review and maintain instrument datasheets, loop drawings, calibration records, inspection reports, and as-built documentation.
• Prepare progress reports and technical updates for project and construction management.
• Assign responsibilities, monitor performance, and support delivery against project schedules.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Experience and Qualifications

• 10–15 years of Instrumentation and Control Engineering experience in EPC or EPCM projects.
• At least 3–5 years in a Lead Engineer or Senior I&C Engineer role.
• Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, process control systems, and instrumentation design and commissioning.
• Background in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, power, or industrial projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Control Engineering, or a related field.
• A master’s degree in Engineering, Automation, or Process Control is preferred.
• Training or certification in PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, instrument calibration, and FAT/SAT procedures.
• NEBOSH, OSHA, HSE awareness, or ISO 9001:2015 awareness and documentation training.
