Process Safety Engineer

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and review HAZOP studies and maintain accurate records of hazards, safeguards, consequences, and recommendations.
• Convert process safety information, procedures, inspection records, and manual logs into structured digital workflows.
• Support dynamic barrier management with real-time monitoring of critical safety barriers.
• Identify discrepancies between engineering documentation and physical plant or field conditions.
• Collaborate across engineering, operations, maintenance, reliability, HSE, IT, and digital teams.
• Apply PHA and risk assessment methods and develop dashboards, reports, and safety performance indicators.

Must-Have Skills

• Strong process safety engineering expertise and extensive hands-on HAZOP and PHA experience are required.
• Experience identifying process hazards, evaluating safeguards, and assessing major accident risks is required.
• Strong understanding of process safety management and safety-critical barriers is required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills are required.

Education and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
• Formal training in PHA methodologies is required.
• Six to eleven years of relevant experience in process safety, operational risk, HSE engineering, or related industrial environments is required.
• HAZOP or LOPA Leader certification is preferred.

Preferred Skills

• LOPA experience and HAZOP Leader or Facilitator certification are preferred.
• Power BI, safety or process data visualization, and high-hazard industrial experience are preferred.
• Exposure to AI, IoT, cloud platforms, digital twins, predictive analytics, or real-time monitoring is preferred.
