Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Act as technical lead and subject matter expert for hydraulic modelling, hydrology, and flooding projects.
• Lead technical approaches and methodologies for high-quality and cost-effective delivery.
• Deliver and oversee complex, high-profile projects for key clients.
• Develop quality assurance and quality control processes and review calculations, models, and technical outputs.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, reports, and design documentation.
• Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical effort.
• Contribute to project budgets, schedules, and PS&E packages.
• Provide strategic technical guidance to clients and mentor junior and mid-level staff.

Required qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, GIS, Geography, or a related discipline.
• Chartered ICE or CIWEM membership, or an equivalent qualification.
• Extensive experience in hydraulic modelling, hydrology, GIS, or data analysis, including ArcGIS.
• Significant experience in fluvial, pluvial, and integrated hydraulic modelling.
• Experience using Innovyze ICM, Flood Modeller, or TUFLOW.
• Proven technical leadership on complex modelling and hydrology projects.
• Strong water consultancy experience delivering multidisciplinary projects.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Working arrangement

• The position supports a flexible hybrid working model across the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices.
• The role may involve work from an AECOM office, remote location, or client site.
