Role overview

Principal Engineer responsible for HVAC design engineering, technical leadership, quality management, and project delivery within a Global Design Center.

The role supports international projects and requires independent leadership of complex HVAC design packages.

Core requirements

  • B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 12–15 years of HVAC design engineering experience in a consulting environment.
  • At least 6–7 years of experience delivering international projects in a Global Design Center.
  • Carrier HAP proficiency for cooling and heating load calculations is mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of IES-VE for energy modeling and building performance analysis.
  • Strong expertise in chilled water, airside HVAC, critical cooling, ventilation, pressurization, smoke management, and sustainable HVAC systems.
  • Thorough understanding of ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, IMC, and other international design codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of Revit MEP, AutoCAD, BIM workflows, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Experience with HVAC calculations, equipment selection, reports, specifications, and construction documentation.

Leadership and delivery

  • Independently lead HVAC design packages and provide technical oversight on complex projects.
  • Manage design quality, technical reviews, client interactions, and project delivery.
  • Deliver projects from concept design through detailed design and construction support.
  • Provide technical leadership and decision-making within the Global Design Center.
  • Mentor engineering teams and drive engineering excellence.

Preferred project experience

  • Data center and healthcare facility design experience is highly preferred.
  • Preferred projects include hyperscale and colocation data centers, hospitals, healthcare campuses, mission-critical facilities, pharmaceutical and laboratory facilities, and commercial developments.
  • Chartered Engineer, PE, IntPE, or equivalent professional registration is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to LEED, BREEAM, WELL, or Green Mark sustainability frameworks is advantageous.
