- Identify requirements and scope of work, review specifications, drawings and other documents
- Carry out detailed assessment of commissioning work and assess resources and constraints
- Provide necessary inputs to commissioning proposals at bidding stage
- Inspect construction activities and ensure safety procedures are followed
- Manage risk and hold regular risk assessment meetings with client
- Be present on field to guarantee quality and progress
- Liaise and coordinate with commissioning engineers and provide technical support

Project Position Overview
- Principal Engineer Commissioning Mechanical
- Lead a team of commissioning engineers in carrying out Pre Commissioning/Commissioning & Start up activities.
- Provide necessary technical information for other disciplines during the project.
- Coordinate work within budgeted man hour and project schedule.
Primary Duties
- Identify requirements and scope of work, review specifications, drawings and other documents.
- Carry out detailed assessment of commissioning work and assess resources and constraints.
- Review contractual documents and identify project requirements and constraints/risks.
- Provide necessary inputs to commissioning proposals at bidding stage.
- Inspect construction activities and ensure safety procedures are followed.
- Ensure safety and precautionary requirements are followed during commissioning.
- Discuss and get approval of Pre Commissioning, Commissioning and Operations procedures from clients.
- Lead subcontractor for safe execution of Pre Commissioning / Commissioning activities.
- Manage risk as assigned by commissioning manager, project management and/or site management.
- Hold regular review of risk assessment/meeting with client on HSE issues.
- Be aware of cost monitoring, control expenses, and report overruns to management.
- Be continually present on field to guarantee quality and progress of work.
Mechanical Requirements
- Ability to produce project specific procedures, Preservation & Maintenance check sheets, matrix and schedules.
- Ability to find out technical problems associated with rotating/static equipment and mechanical packages/valves.
- Ability to preserve and maintain rotating equipment after commissioning and start up.
- Preparation of RFQ’s and evaluation of vendor technical bids.
- Assessing requirements of special tools/temporary facilities/equipment for pre commissioning and commissioning.
- Ability to participate in model reviews of plant with respect to Accessibility & Maintainability.
- Ability to perform & guide activities related to rotating equipment: lube oil flushing, alignment, lubrication, vibration checks, start up etc.
- Ability to perform & guide activities related to static equipment: proper installation of internal inside vessels.
- Ability to perform & guide in air blowing, flushing, leak testing, drying & inerting of various piping.
- Ability to perform & guide in mechanical interlock, pipeline pigging, spring support, hot & cold setting.
