About the Role
Take technical ownership of the aircraft electrical system.
Cover electrical generation and distribution, power management, avionics and cabin power, wiring, electrical safety and aircraft charging interfaces.
Develop and mature the electrical architecture from early design through installed hardware and testing.
Work across engineering disciplines, with potential specialization in power management, wiring systems or charging and ground power.
Key Responsibilities
- Own aircraft electrical load analysis and power budgets across flight phases and failure scenarios.
- Design low-voltage generation, conversion and distribution systems.
- Develop essential and emergency bus architectures with load-shedding strategies.
- Provide electrical power solutions for avionics, mission, medical and cabin systems.
- Lead wiring interconnection system design, including routing, separation, grounding, bonding, connectors and protection.
- Own aircraft charging and ground power interfaces.
- Define high-voltage to low-voltage conversion requirements and system interfaces.
- Support safety assessments, qualification, installation testing and integration activities.
Must-Have Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in aircraft electrical systems engineering.
- At least 4 years working on aircraft programmes through to installed hardware.
- Experience owning aircraft electrical load analysis and power budget development through design maturity.
- Strong low-voltage distribution and electrical bus architecture experience.
- Experience with essential and emergency power systems and load shedding.
- Strong wiring interconnection systems knowledge, including routing, separation, bonding, grounding and installation.
- Experience with electrical protection, isolation, fault behaviour and protection coordination.
- Experience supporting electrical certification, qualification and installation testing.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with electric or hybrid-electric aircraft.
- Experience designing aircraft charging or ground power interfaces.
- Knowledge of lightning protection and HIRF.
- Experience with harness design tools and electrical data management within PLM systems.
- Experience with hot-climate aircraft installations and electrical derating.
