Role overview

Recruitment is underway for a Principal BMS and High Voltage Systems Engineer supporting a confidential advanced eVTOL engineering programme.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on battery management, high-voltage architecture, protection, and safety-critical control systems.

Workplace and employment

  • The role is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
  • The position is onsite and full time.

Key experience required

  • At least 10 years of experience in BMS, power electronics control, or safety-critical embedded systems.
  • Hands-on ownership of BMS architecture.
  • Experience with state-of-charge and state-of-health estimation.
  • Experience with cell balancing, fault detection and isolation, safe-state definition, and contactor control.
  • Experience with high-voltage protection architecture, fusing, and protection coordination.
  • Experience with arc-fault or ground-fault detection and isolation monitoring.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop and fault-injection testing.
  • Experience with safety-critical requirements and development assurance.
  • Experience technically managing BMS or control-system suppliers.

Advantageous background

  • Experience in aerospace, electric or hybrid-electric platforms, or another highly regulated safety-critical environment is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop battery management system architecture for an advanced eVTOL programme.
  • Define and implement state-of-charge and state-of-health estimation approaches.
  • Develop cell balancing, fault detection and isolation, safe-state, and contactor-control functions.
  • Design high-voltage protection, fusing, and protection coordination architecture.
  • Implement arc-fault and ground-fault detection and isolation monitoring.
  • Plan and perform hardware-in-the-loop and fault-injection testing.
  • Define safety-critical requirements and development assurance activities.
  • Provide technical management for BMS and control-system suppliers.
