Role Overview
Lead architecture for Forward Deployed Engineers building and operating autonomous intelligence systems, agent runtimes, reasoning pipelines, orchestration platforms, and AI-native applications.
The role spans customer problem definition, agent-directed software development, context engineering, code verification, architecture, deployment, and production ownership.
Responsibilities
- Establish best practices and reference architecture for more than 30 Forward Deployed Engineers delivering agentic AI solutions.
- Translate customer use cases into precise specifications and efficient solutions using the ServiceNow AI Platform and other AI tools.
- Direct AI coding agents across multiple files, services, and parallel workstreams.
- Create prompts, agent instructions, architectural records, glossaries, examples, and documentation that improve agent reliability.
- Review software for correctness, security, performance, maintainability, edge cases, failure modes, and concurrency.
- Own production integration, monitoring, security defenses, reliability, and feedback into evaluation sets.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience building, shipping, and operating production software with AI-native methods.
- Customer-facing experience deploying AI as a Forward Deployed Engineer.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and AI/ML knowledge, including models, embeddings, LLM behavior, and failure modes.
- Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools, autonomous agent systems, tool use, planning, memory, policies, and multi-agent collaboration.
- Experience designing context systems that control information retrieval and model context over time.
Compensation
- Base pay is listed as $221,200 to $387,100, plus equity when applicable, variable or incentive compensation, and benefits.
- Individual total compensation varies based on qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
