Practice Director - Ports and Marine Engineering

Role overview

Project and client leadership

• Lead and support client relationships for the practice.
• Ensure projects meet schedule, cost, and quality targets.
• Lead continuous improvement through client feedback and delivery performance.
• Implement project governance standards and build effective supply chain and partner relationships.

Leadership and operational performance

• Grow capability and capacity regionally through Enterprise Capability collaboration.
• Drive utilization performance and national resource planning.
• Mentor, develop, and retain high-performing distributed teams.
• Drive quality, innovation, KPIs, growth targets, and operational performance.

Safety and collaboration

• Promote Safety, Health, Environment, wellbeing, sustainability, and safety metrics across projects and teams.
• Act as a visible safety leader and embed best practices at project and operational levels.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary delivery across business lines and global geographies.
• Share knowledge, best practices, and technical expertise across the organization.

Business development and work winning

• Deliver the existing Ports and Marine Engineering framework and project portfolio.
• Secure repeat business and new opportunities across the end-to-end project sales cycle.
• Support sector-led bids with capability, expertise, and resources.
• Develop Enterprise Capability strategies and relationships to maximize global delivery capability.

Qualifications and experience

• Extensive ports, coastal, or marine engineering experience leading large, complex programs.
• Professional registration such as Chartered Engineer, PE, or equivalent.
• Degree in civil, coastal, marine engineering, or a related field.
• Success in client development, strategic pursuits, major multidisciplinary projects, and client relationship management.

Technical expertise

• Strong technical grounding in marine structures, coastal protection, dredging and reclamation, terminals, navigation, and resilience.
• Familiarity with PIANC, regional codes, BIM, analytics, and modeling.
• Proven team leadership, P&L accountability, and capability building across distributed teams.

Workplace

• Hybrid work options are available across AECOM offices, remote locations, and client sites.
• New employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.
