Role Overview

AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Practice Director to support growth and delivery across its Ports and Marine Engineering business.

The position combines strategic leadership, work winning, operational performance, project delivery, and people development.

The practice covers ports, coastal, and marine projects and complex multidisciplinary infrastructure programs.

Project and Client Leadership

  • Lead client relationships and ensure project delivery meets schedule, cost, and quality targets.
  • Lead continuous improvement through client feedback and delivery performance.
  • Implement project governance standards and build effective supply chain and partner relationships.

Leadership and Operations

  • Grow capability and capacity regionally through collaboration with Enterprise Capability teams.
  • Mentor, develop, and retain high-performing teams while fostering an inclusive culture.
  • Drive performance against KPIs, growth targets, cost, schedule, quality, sustainability, and safety metrics.
  • Lead safety, health, environment, and wellbeing initiatives across projects and teams.

Business Development

  • Deliver the existing Ports and Marine Engineering framework and project portfolio while securing repeat business and new opportunities.
  • Support sector-led bids with capability, expertise, and resources and develop discipline-specific global delivery strategies.
  • Strengthen collaboration across business lines, geographies, and Enterprise Capability teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive ports, coastal, or marine engineering experience leading large, complex programs.
  • Professional registration such as Chartered Engineer, PE, or equivalent, and a degree in civil, coastal, marine engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in client development, strategic pursuits, and major multidisciplinary project delivery.
  • Strong technical grounding in marine structures, coastal protection, dredging, reclamation, terminals, navigation, and resilience.
  • Proven team leadership, P&L accountability, capability building, work winning, project delivery, and client relationship management experience.

Preferred Knowledge

  • Familiarity with PIANC, regional codes, and digital delivery methods such as BIM, analytics, and modeling.

Workplace

  • AECOM offers hybrid work options involving office, remote, or client-site work as appropriate.
  • New hires must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
