Role Overview

Painting Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling, and repairing imperfections.
• Paint, stain, varnish, and finish timber structures such as fences, pergolas, decks, gazebos, gates, screens, and garden features.
• Paint metal structures, garden furniture, landscape fixtures, and other outdoor elements.
• Apply primers, undercoats, sealants, protective coatings, and finishing products.
• Select and mix paints, stains, coatings, and materials according to project specifications.
• Use brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other painting tools safely and effectively.
• Protect plants, lawns, paving, buildings, and surrounding areas during painting work.
• Complete touch-ups, repairs, maintenance painting, inspections, and defect rectification.
• Maintain tools and materials and keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.

Team and Safety Duties

• Follow manufacturer instructions when handling paints, solvents, coatings, and chemicals.
• Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Work closely with landscapers, carpenters, supervisors, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• A certificate, diploma, or recognized vocational qualification in painting, decorating, surface finishing, or a related trade is preferred.
• Relevant painting apprenticeship or trade training is advantageous.
• At least 2–3 years of relevant painting experience is required, preferably in landscaping, outdoor construction, or property maintenance.
• Practical knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, coatings, and finishing products is required.
• Experience with outdoor and weather-resistant paints and protective coatings is required.

Role Requirements

• Ability to achieve a high-quality and professional finish and accurately match colors.
• Ability to safely use brushes, rollers, spray guns, sanding equipment, and other painting tools.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, humid, wet, or varying weather conditions.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, work at heights, and lift painting materials and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a landscaping team.
• Good communication and time-management skills and a reliable, punctual approach.

Work Location

• Work is performed in person in outdoor landscaping and construction environments.
