Construction Labour with Landscaping Experience

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Assist with general construction and landscaping activities.
• Clear, excavate, level, grade, and compact sites.
• Load, transport, and distribute soil, aggregates, concrete, plants, paving materials, and other supplies.
• Install or assist with paving, pathways, kerbs, retaining walls, edging, and steps.
• Install and repair irrigation, drainage, and water systems.
• Assist with concrete preparation, mixing, pouring, spreading, and finishing.
• Prepare planting areas and assist with planting vegetation and installing turf.
• Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, wheelbarrows, compactors, and other equipment.
• Support skilled landscapers, tradespeople, and supervisors.
• Clean sites, remove waste, and maintain tools, materials, equipment, and work areas.
• Follow project plans, work instructions, safety procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Report hazards, damaged equipment, and unsafe working conditions.

Qualifications and requirements

• Previous experience as a construction labourer, landscaping labourer, or in a similar outdoor construction role.
• Practical experience in landscaping, site preparation, earthworks, paving, planting, irrigation, or drainage.
• Basic knowledge of construction and landscaping methods and materials.
• Ability to safely use common hand tools and power tools.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
• Physical fitness for manual handling, lifting, digging, bending, and other demanding tasks.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently with supervisors and team members.
• Good communication, reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Relevant construction, landscaping, machinery, or occupational health and safety training is an advantage.
• A valid driver's licence and relevant machinery experience may be desirable, depending on the position.
