Electrician with Landscape Experience

Role Overview

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical or vocational electrical installation training is preferred.
• Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting is required.
• Hands-on experience with landscape lighting, irrigation controls, outdoor power distribution, and low-voltage installations is required.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, site plans, lighting layouts, and landscape construction drawings is required.
• Familiarity with weatherproof enclosures, grounding and bonding, underground conduits, and outdoor-rated cabling is required.
• Understanding of electrical safety codes, outdoor installation standards, and lockout/tagout procedures is required.
• Proficiency with multimeters, continuity testers, and insulation testers is required.
• Physical ability to work outdoors, dig trenches, pull cable, lift equipment, and work in varying weather is required.
• A valid driver's license is often preferred for site travel and service work.

Responsibilities

• Install outdoor lighting, underground conduits, junction boxes, transformers, and outdoor distribution equipment.
• Wire landscape lighting circuits, timers, photocells, smart controllers, and irrigation control panels.
• Support electrical work for fountains, pumps, pond systems, and other water features.
• Inspect, maintain, test, diagnose, repair, and replace outdoor electrical systems and components.
• Verify timers, sensors, dimming systems, and automation controls operate correctly.
• Ensure work complies with applicable codes, outdoor standards, and project specifications.
• Use weatherproof and corrosion-resistant materials and correct identified electrical hazards.
• Coordinate with landscape contractors, irrigation technicians, civil teams, and project supervisors.
• Maintain records of inspections, test results, maintenance activities, and material usage.
