Position Overview
The Department of International Studies seeks a full-time rolling-track faculty member in 19th- and 20th-century history.
The position is open rank and begins in Fall 2027.
Candidates specializing in North America, South America, Transatlantic, or Transpacific history are encouraged to apply.
Teaching and Service
- Teach survey courses in World History.
- Teach existing upper-level courses consistent with the candidate's expertise.
- Develop courses in the candidate's field of specialization.
- Contribute to the department's growing graduate program.
- Participate in faculty- and student-oriented service activities.
- The regular teaching load is 3-3.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a PhD in History.
- Have at least one year of teaching experience and a record of excellent teaching.
- Demonstrate consistent research output in quality venues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching the US History survey receives priority consideration.
- Substantial experience with American models of higher education receives priority consideration.
Location and Language
- The successful candidate will join AUS and reside in the UAE starting in August 2027.
- English is the language of instruction and the workplace.
Faculty Support
- Internal grant programs may provide course releases.
- Internal grants also provide support for conference and research travel.
- Salary and benefits are competitive.
