Position Overview
The Department of International Studies seeks an open-rank, rolling-track faculty member in 19th- and 20th-century history.

The full-time position begins in Fall 2027 and is open to candidates at all ranks.
Teaching and Service
- Teach survey courses in World History and existing upper-level courses consistent with the faculty member's expertise.
- Develop courses in the faculty member's field of specialization.
- Contribute to the department's growing graduate program.
- Participate in faculty- and student-oriented service activities.
- The regular teaching load is 3-3, with possible course releases through internal grant programs.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in History is required.
- Candidates must have at least one year of teaching experience and a record of excellent teaching.
- Candidates must demonstrate consistent research output in quality venues.
- Experience teaching the U.S. History survey receives priority consideration.
- Substantial experience with American models of higher education receives priority consideration.
Location and Start Timing
- Successful candidates are expected to join AUS and reside in the UAE starting in August 2026.
- AUS is located in Sharjah's University City in the United Arab Emirates.
- English is the language of instruction and the workplace.
Compensation
- Salary and benefits are described as competitive.
- Internal grant programs may provide course releases and support for conference and research travel.
