Etqan Global Academy is seeking an MYP Language & Literature Teacher (English) in Doha, Qatar.
The role focuses on helping students become confident, critical readers, writers, and communicators within the IB MYP framework.
The Role
- Plan and deliver concept-driven Language & Literature lessons aligned with the IB MYP curriculum and global contexts.
- Design inquiry-based learning experiences that develop reading, writing, critical-thinking, and communication skills.
- Assess student work using MYP Language & Literature criteria and provide constructive feedback.
- Create units of inquiry exploring language, literature, global contexts, and intercultural perspectives.
- Embed approaches-to-learning skills and a love of reading and language throughout teaching.
- Support preparation for MYP eAssessment in Language & Literature.
- Fulfil Form Tutor responsibilities and contribute to the school’s pastoral life.
- Contribute to the English department and wider school community.
Successful Candidate
- A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, B.Ed, or an equivalent qualification is required.
- A degree in English, Language & Literature, or a related subject is required.
- Proven experience teaching Language & Literature or English in an IB MYP school is required.
- Strong knowledge of the MYP Language & Literature curriculum, assessment criteria, and eAssessment is required.
- Excellent literacy skills and passion for language and literature are required.
- Ability to design and deliver concept-driven, inquiry-based, and differentiated lessons is required.
- Effective classroom-management and communication skills are required.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing is required.
- IB MYP Language & Literature workshop training and international school experience are desirable.
