Etqan Global Academy is seeking an experienced Head of Primary for its IB World School in Doha, Qatar.
The role leads the primary school community and champions transdisciplinary, inquiry-based learning within the IB Primary Years Programme.
The Role
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the primary school in line with the IB PYP philosophy and school strategic plan.
- Ensure high-quality implementation and development of the IB Primary Years Programme.
- Lead and develop the primary teaching team through coaching, appraisal, and continuing professional development.
- Drive school improvement through monitoring, evaluation, data analysis, and collaborative planning.
- Build a nurturing school community where students feel safe, valued, and challenged.
- Work with the PYP Coordinator to strengthen programme delivery and prepare for IB accreditation.
- Build relationships with parents and the wider school community.
- Oversee primary assessment, reporting, and curriculum planning.
- Promote student agency, inquiry-based learning, and the IB learner profile.
Successful Candidate
- Hold a recognised primary teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, or equivalent.
- Hold a relevant degree.
- Have significant senior leadership experience within an IB PYP school.
- Have deep knowledge of the IB Primary Years Programme and transdisciplinary pedagogy.
- Show a proven record of raising student outcomes and leading school improvement.
- Have experience developing and coaching high-quality teaching teams.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Show a strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
- International school experience, ideally in the Middle East, is desirable.
