Etqan Global Academy is seeking an experienced Head of Secondary for its IB World School in Doha, Qatar.
The role provides visionary leadership across the secondary school, drives academic excellence, develops teaching teams, and promotes international-mindedness.
The Role
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the secondary school in line with the IB MYP philosophy and school strategic plan.
- Champion the IB Middle Years Programme and ensure high-quality concept-driven, inquiry-based teaching and learning.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the secondary teaching team through coaching, appraisal, and continuing professional development.
- Drive whole-school improvement through monitoring, evaluation, data analysis, and self-review.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community.
- Collaborate with the Principal, MYP Coordinator, and senior leadership team on the school improvement plan.
- Ensure student welfare, pastoral care, and wellbeing across the secondary school.
- Oversee timetabling, curriculum planning, and academic reporting.
- Promote student agency, the IB learner profile, and international-mindedness.
Successful Candidate
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, or equivalent.
- Hold a relevant degree.
- Have significant senior leadership experience in an IB school and strong MYP knowledge.
- Show a proven record of school improvement and raising student outcomes.
- Have experience leading, developing, and inspiring high-performing teaching teams.
- Demonstrate excellent data literacy and use assessment information to drive improvement.
- Demonstrate outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Show a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare.
- International school experience, ideally in the Middle East, is desirable.
