Location

  • The role is based at Etqan Global Academy in Doha, Qatar.

The Role

Etqan Global Academy is an IB World School offering the IB Middle Years Programme.

The school is seeking an MYP Language and Literature Teacher (English) to develop confident, critical readers, writers, and communicators.

Role Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver concept-driven Language and Literature lessons aligned with the IB MYP curriculum and global contexts.
  • Design inquiry-based learning experiences that develop reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Assess student work using MYP criteria and provide constructive feedback.
  • Create units of inquiry exploring language, literature, global contexts, and intercultural perspectives.
  • Embed ATL skills and a love of reading and language throughout teaching.
  • Support MYP eAssessment preparation, fulfill Form Tutor duties, and contribute to the school community.

Candidate Requirements

  • A recognized teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, B.Ed, or equivalent is required.
  • A degree in English, Language and Literature, or a related subject is required.
  • Proven experience teaching Language and Literature or English in an IB MYP school is required.
  • Strong knowledge of the MYP curriculum, assessment criteria, and eAssessment is required.
  • Candidates should have excellent literacy skills, effective classroom management, and strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing is required.

Desirable Qualifications

  • IB MYP workshop training in Language and Literature is desirable.
  • International school experience is desirable.
