Role Overview

The British International School Abu Dhabi is seeking a Student Support Assistant to join its English as an Additional Language team.

The role supports students with English as an Additional Language and contributes to their academic progress and wellbeing under the guidance of the EAL Coordinator and Head of Inclusion.

School Context

  • The role is based at The British International School Abu Dhabi and works closely with class teachers, the EAL Coordinator, and the Head of Inclusion.
  • The school educates students aged 3–18 from more than 90 nationalities.

About the Role

  • Provide individual and small-group support to students with English as an Additional Language.
  • Adapt resources and strategies to meet learners’ needs.
  • Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Contribute to the development and review of Individual EAL Plans and support programmes.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Promote confidence, independence, and effective communication.
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate with the EAL team.
  • Strengthen links between home and school.

Candidate Requirements

  • Successful candidates must be fluent English language speakers.
  • Fluency in an additional language would be an advantage.
