Material Engineer

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings, and BOQ to ensure material compliance.
• Prepare and submit Material Approval Requests (MARs), technical submittals, and method statements.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, and internal teams for timely material approvals.
• Evaluate and select materials in line with project specifications, budget, and authority standards.
• Liaise with suppliers for technical data, samples, MSDS, and compliance documentation.
• Prepare comparison sheets including compliance, cost, delivery timelines, and sourcing.
• Monitor material procurement, delivery, storage, and usage to avoid project delays.
• Inspect materials upon delivery to ensure compliance with approved specifications.
• Maintain material logs, submittal trackers, and proper documentation as per company standards.
• Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections, testing, NCRs, and quality documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, risk assessments, and sustainability requirements (Estidama/LEED).
• Support audits, supplier evaluations, and quality reviews as required.
• Identify and report discrepancies, risks, and delays related to materials.
• Provide technical support to project teams and assist in value engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction projects as a Material Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, technical submittals, and QA/QC processes.
• Experience in material approvals, supplier coordination, and documentation.
• Good communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Preferred

• DMT (Abu Dhabi) approved candidates
• Knowledge of Estidama/LEED requirements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
