Role Overview

Lead materials engineering activities during FEED, EPC, and detailed engineering phases of oil and gas or petrochemical projects.

Provide technical leadership for material selection, corrosion control, metallurgy, specifications, vendor reviews, and multidisciplinary project delivery.

Materials Engineering

  • Develop material selection strategies for process facilities, pipelines, piping systems, static equipment, and offshore structures.
  • Prepare, review, and approve material selection reports, corrosion studies, material specifications, piping class specifications, and technical requisitions.
  • Perform material selection and corrosion assessments based on process conditions, operating environments, and project design life.
  • Provide expertise in corrosion control, coatings, cathodic protection interfaces, metallurgy, welding requirements, and non-metallic materials.

Compliance and Coordination

  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications, and NACE, ASME, ASTM, API, and ISO requirements.
  • Review vendor documentation, technical bid evaluations, and material compliance documentation.
  • Support HAZOP, HAZID, constructability, value engineering, and design optimization activities.
  • Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Inspection, and Procurement disciplines.
  • Participate in technical meetings with clients, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve material-related issues.

Team and Delivery Management

  • Monitor engineering deliverables against project schedules, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise Specialists, Senior Engineers, and Engineers to ensure technical excellence and effective project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent from an accredited university is required.
  • At least 15 years of relevant Oil & Gas or petrochemical industry experience is required.
  • At least 5 years in a similar position on major projects, managing Specialists, Senior Engineers, and Engineers, is required.
  • Experience in FEED and EPC phases is required.
  • At least 5 years of GCC experience is preferred.
  • ADNOC, offshore, and PMC experience are preferred.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of material selection, corrosion engineering, metallurgy, coatings, and international standards is required.
  • Experience preparing Material Selection Diagrams, Corrosion Control Documents, and material specifications for offshore and onshore facilities is required.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills are required.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural project environments is required.
