The Installation Analysis Engineer applies conceptual knowledge of installation analysis with moderate guidance from colleagues and leadership.
The role solves straightforward installation analysis problems using standard procedures, technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Perform FEED, studies, and detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations for complex engineering tasks.
- Prepare detailed design calculations, analyses, design reports, and procedures.
- Organize work to meet deadlines and complete assigned work within budgets.
- Review project scope, specifications, schedules, and interdisciplinary requirements and identify concerns early.
- Interface with other disciplines and departments to develop clash-free designs and obtain design inputs.
- Prepare bid inputs and sketches of detailed designs to guide designers.
- Support procurement by preparing requisitions, evaluating technical quotations, responding to queries, compiling bid tabulations, and coordinating vendor documents.
- Review material take-offs, drawings, engineering performed by others, and vendor or subcontractor submittals.
- Perform design verification through single-discipline checks and assist with inter-discipline checks.
- Keep the Lead Engineer informed of activities, progress, and concerns.
- Check final vendor and subcontractor data manuals and confirm requested data has been received and approved.
- Capture lessons learned and record them in the lessons learned system.
Fabrication and Installation Analysis
- In FabCSE, perform or review erection sequences for jackets, topsides, and other structures.
- Prepare or review loadout procedures and operational guidance.
- Perform construction lift analyses and procedures for floatovers, stackings, roll-ups, and similar activities.
- Prepare or review weighing procedures and miscellaneous fabrication yard items.
- Prepare or review crane, rigging, and trailer arrangements, including related drawings and procedures.
- Pipeline installation engineering, structural installation engineering, and naval architecture activities are listed as preferable additional skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- A master's degree is preferred.
- 3–8 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant, predominantly performing detail design.
Reporting and Interfaces
- The role reports to the Manager, Construction Support Engineer.
- The role liaises with design and drafting disciplines, engineering disciplines, fabrication groups, and document control.
- The role supervises trainee engineers.
