About the Role
Petrofac is seeking an Inspector I - Quality (EIT) for an Abu Dhabi site role. The position involves inspection and testing of electrical works, including cable tray installation, cable jointing, switchgear testing, and hazardous area inspections.

Responsibilities
- Inspection/testing of temporary electrical works and connections to camp facilities
- Inspect installation of supports, cable tray/conduit, and cable trench dimensions
- Monitor cable jointing/termination process and witness insulation resistance/continuity tests
- Inspect switchgear installation, witness torquing, IR, Hi pot, and operational tests
- Inspect transformer oil dielectric test, IR test, and final inspection of transformers and switchgears
- Inspect earthing system, lightning protection, and underground earth cable installation
- Inspect lighting fixtures, distribution boards, and witness functional tests
- Monitor preservation activities of motors and inspect motor installation
- Inspect cathodic protection system and heat tracing circuits
- Perform initial detailed inspection of certified electrical equipment per IEC 60079 17
Requirements
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum years of experience as Electrical QC Inspector
- Experience in oil & gas/Petrochemical industry
- Previously worked with major EPC contractors or their subcontractors
- For Hazardous Area Electrical Inspections: training on IEC 60079 17 and IEC 60079 14

Key Responsibilities
- Inspection/testing of temporary electrical works, connections to camp facilities as and when required.
- Inspect installation of supports prior to cable tray installation.
- Inspection of cable tray/conduit installation prior to release for cable laying.
- Inspect UG stub ups.
- Inspect cable trench for dimensions and sand bedding prior to cable laying and prior to release each layer of cables.
- Monitor cable jointing/termination process to ensure manufacturer’s recommendations are followed.
- Inspect cable segregation arrangement etc prior to back filling/release.
- Inspect cable glanding, termination, dressing etc.
- Witness Insulation Resistance/continuity test of cables on the drum, after laying, prior to trench back filling and after termination.
- Witness Hi pot test of cables.
- Inspect/witness final torquing of the cable termination.
- Inspect installation of cable tray cover.
Essential Qualifications And Skills
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum years of experience as Electrical QC Inspector.
- Should have experience in oil & gas/Petrochemical industry.
- Should have previously worked with major EPC contractors or their subcontractors.
- For Hazardous Area Electrical Inspections: Should be an experienced person whose training has included instructions on various types of protection and installation practices, IEC 60079 17 and IEC 60079 14.
